Emergency Lighting Installation

In order to fully meet fire safety regulations emergency lighting has to be installed. It is designed to provide lighting for building evacuation when the conventional lighting fails.

There 2 main types of emergency lighting systems:

  1. Self contained emergency lighting - individual emergency luminaires have a self contained battery within its housing, that in the event of power failure is energised and illuminates the emergency luminaire.
  2. Central battery emergency lighting - the battery is located separately and wired to the emergency luminaires using fire rated cable. This central battery energises in the event of power failure and illuminates the emergency luminaires.
